Designed for Delphi Point Beach, a shale shoreline in Blue Mountain, Ontario. This pavilion draws its form from the site’s existing views of peaked hills and surrounding rooftops. Positioned as a floating structure off the shore, it complements the landscape while introducing moments of shade within the open shale terrain. The design engages the sun’s orientation, creating shifting patterns of light and shadow throughout the day.
The model is entirely crafted from wood, using painted, stained and natural cedar to create subtle variation that draws from both the built and natural surroundings. White surfaces reflect sunlight, while solid forms provide shade. Perforated and open sections filter light and shadow, promoting natural airflow throughout the structure.
